didymos didyklick Tula half buckle

Tula's Half Buckle Baby Carrier and Didymos' DidyKlick are very similar and both great options for babies of all ages. There are a few key differences between these baby carriers that make each one shine.

Similarities between the Tula Half Buckle and Didymos DidyKlick

Both carriers have the same basic construction, which makes them both fall into the category of Half Buckle Baby Carriers. They are both composed of a waist belt, back panel and long shoulder straps. They each have a padded waist belt, that adjusts with webbing and fastens with a buckle. They each have a mostly non-padded back panel that supports baby's back and holds her legs in an M-shaped position, with knee-to-knee support. And they each have long shoulder straps that tie around you and your baby. How each of these components is executed is where the differences lie.

Fabric Options

The Tula Half Buckle Carrier is made of soft, 100% organic cotton twill. It comes in a variety of patterns, but patterns are printed onto the fabric and the fabric itself is the same regardless of the pattern. It's supportive, luxuriously soft right out of the box and continues to soften and become less stiff with wear. Soft as it is, it's responsible for some of the structure of the carrier and does not become super floppy as it breaks in.

The DidyKlick is made almost entirely of machine woven wrap fabric, save for the waist belt (which is twill) and the padding. DidyKlicks are available in a number of 100% organic cotton wrap fabric options. There are different colours and weaves available and different weaves give different patterns and textures to the fabric. Cotton wrap fabric can be a little stiff out of the box, but becomes incredibly soft and pliable after just one wash.

As you wear your DidyKlick, the wrap fabric breaks in and becomes softer and floppy, which allows it to mold to your body when wrapped around you and your baby. Different fabric options mean you can choose a thicker and more supportive option for wearing an older child or a thinner, more cuddly option for wearing a young baby. That said, any DidyKlick can be used from the newborn stage through the toddler years.

Wasitbelts

Both waist bands sit at your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, right by your belly button, for younger babies. They can be worn lower, closer to your hips, as your baby gets older and taller. They both add support and comfort by distributing your child's weight away from your shoulders, towards your waist and hips.

The Tula Half Buckle Carrier has a stiff, wide, structured waist belt that is comparable to a standard soft structured carrier waist belt.

The DidyKlick has a much narrower, cushier waist belt than a standard soft structured carrier. It's softer and more pliable and can feel less bulky. It provides similar support and weight distribution to the Tula Half Buckle's waistband, but it makes this carrier feel less like a standard soft structured carrier.

Panel Adjustability

Both carriers cinch at the base of the back panel, so that they can comfortably and safely accommodate a wide range of ages, to take you from the newborn stage through toddlerhood.

The Tula Half Buckle Carrier has three width settings. It is adjusted easily using snaps at the waist belt. It also has adjusters at the top of the back panel, so you can adapt the height of the panel as your baby grows.

The DidyKlick's back panel attaches to the waistbelt with a panel of velcro and can be adjusted to any width by adjusting the velcro. There is also a drawstring by the base of the back panel, which can be used to cinch the height of the panel.

Shoulder Straps

A Key Difference is the style of these carriers shoulder straps.

The Tula Half Buckle Carrier has long shoulder straps that can tie at baby's bum or wrap and tie behind your back. They are narrow and padded towards the top, where they rest on your shoulders and upper back, much like standard soft structured carrier shoulder straps. They widen into a single layer of twill towards the ends, so that the fabric can be spread out over your baby's bum and your sides, for added support and comfort. The straps on the Didymos DidyKlick are composed entirely of a single layer of woven wrap fabric. They can be spread out entirely on your shoulders, upper back, sides and over your baby's bum for added support and comfort.

Additional Features

Both baby carriers have light padding on the back panel behind baby's knees, for added comfort.

Like their other soft structured carriers, the Tula Half Buckle Carrier includes a roomy pocket on the waist belt, perfect for your phone, keys and a credit card.

Both carriers include hoods, to support baby's head if they fall asleep. The Tula hood is large and detachable. The DidyKlick hood is smaller and attached to the back panel - and can be cinched to make a head rest. Both hoods fasten onto the shoulder straps when in use.

Which carrier you choose will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you're still not sure, go with the one you prefer the look of -- a baby carrier is something you wear and you'll reach for it more if you love how it looks.

You can also book a private consult online or in person with Allie, so you can see, and perhaps feel and try both carriers on. Allie's will help you choose the perfect one for you and your baby and she'll show you exactly how to use it for optimal comfort. calendly.com/littlezenone
